Every
future
generation often ponders the
same questions posed
throughout history, such as the meaning to life, and how one
struggle between good and evil. In
order to find relevant answers to start a dialogue or contemplation,
many may
choose to look towards reference texts that were examined by their
previous
ancestors.
As seen by their ancestors, the Sikhs seek guidance from the Guru
Granth Sahib. The Guru Granth Sahib
is a compilation of holy scriptures of Sikhism’s teachers, or Gurus,
and gives
them clear direction on how to live life on three principles: do good hard work, recite prayer in God’s
name, and share your earnings lovingly with society.
Although anyone is welcomed and encouraged to read the Guru
Granth Sahib, sometimes assistance is needed in order to understand the
deep
philosophic message presented to humanity by Sikhism’s Gurus.
In the suburbs of Washington DC,
there lives a great man who has gone
through tedious education and training in order to understand the Guru
Granth
Sahib. His name is Bhai Gurdarshan Singh
and he is the Head Granthi of
Guru
Gobind Singh Foundation, a Sikh Gurudwara. Bhai Sahib possesses the unique
ability to
articulate the teachings of the Guru Granth Sahib in a manner for all
to understand,
especially for the Sikh youth who are being raised outside of their
motherland home
of Punjab.
As a great friend to all, he is a
true gem for society.
